In collaboration with the Chico Java User Group (Chico JUG), Chico Flex User Group (Chico FUG) organizes a Rich Internet Application Camp on Wednesday April 9th, 2008. The main focus of this event is to introduce of the different cutting-edge technologies from Adobe for building rich and data-driven Web 2.0 applications. 101 Sessions and hands-on labs are going to be held by technology evangelists and industry professionals in the following topics:

  • Adobe Flex
  • Adobe ColdFusion
  • Comet: Reverse Ajax
  • Adobe Flex/ColdFusion and Java Inegration

Biographies

Kevin Nilson is currently a Principal Software Architect for E*Trade Financial in Menlo Park, CA. He is the co-lead of the Silicon Valley Web Developer JUG (Java User Group). He is also the co-lead of the Silicon Valley Google Technology User Group.
Prior to E*Trade Financial, Kevin had extensive industry software engineering and consulting experience with companies such as: Pfizer, Northrop Grumman, AT&T Corporation, etc. He also worked part-time as an adjunct professor at the College of San Mateo.
Kevin received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He is a Sun Certified Java Programmer and Sun CertifiedWeb Component Developer.

Joseph Lowery is the Vice President of Marketing of WebAssist. Joe is a world renowned authority on the Web and particularly Adobe Dreamweaver and the highly respected author of the authoritative series The Dreamweaver Bible. He is well-known to the community through his sessions at a variety of Web conferences as well as online communication in various forums and blogs. In addition to his marketing duties, Joe also participates in product development with the focus on enhancing the user experience in WebAssist products.

Dan Davis is the Lead Programmer in Improvement Direct in Chico, CA. He has 5 years of experience in ColdFusion development. Dan also professionally worked on project using other technologies like PHP and Perl.

Shayne Sweeney is currently a Programmer in Improvement Direct in Chico, CA. He has been developing software professionally for 5 years. He has extensive experience in PHP, ColdFusion and Ruby on Rails.

Roy Steves graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from California State University in Applied Computer Graphics in 2006. He is an alumna of several organizations including Upsilon Pi Epsilon, CSLUG (The Chico State Linux User Group), ACM (The Association of Computer Machinery), and CGC (The Computer Graphics Club). Roy worked on a variety of software projects using technologies like PHP, Perl, Ruby, Java, Visual Basic, Coldfusion, and Javascript.

Abdelmonaim Remani is the Adobe Flex Champion on campus. He is also the President and Founder of a number of student organizations namely The Chico Java User Group, The Chico Flex User Group, and The new Chico Google Technology User Group. Abdel began his career as a Network Administrator, then a Microsoft .NET developer in local companies in Chico. In 2006, he got hired as an Assistant Researcher at the Research Department of SAP Labs in Palo Alto, CA where he worked with several cutting-age technologies and was exposed to Enterprise Application development in Java. He is currently going to school full-time and working as a Developer for Academic Technologies.
